New Phone Wonders

Well now I really feel like I'm living in the 21st century. I have just gotten myself the new G1 phone from T Mobile / Google / HTC and what a wonderful gadget it is. Running on Google's Android operating system this little beauty now means I can surf the web, check prices via barcodes, listen to and identify music, plan my day, pretend to be Mario, play the drums and annoy my girlfriend all at the same time, whilst walking down the street.

May we all bathe in the blueish light of low level radiation together.

Tweaking Ubuntu: Release the Geek!

I've just got a new computer and it's only 4-5 years old so it rocks! I'm running ubuntu on it and i've been tweaking the compiz setting to do cool stuff with the desktop, getting that mac like functionality. The results:

Look at me the computer nerd..

I have upgraded version of ubuntu on my work computer from Feisty Fawn to Gutsy Gibbon.

With only a minor blip over wireless which appears to have resolved itself after I deleted the default keyring from /home/.gnome2/.

Although utterly unrelated this post is dedicated to PM, thanks for the chat, you're a life saver.

Currently...

Right now I'm working on the hellish, hollow core of '10 Ways to Die on Stage', for those that have seen the show it's the bit surrounding the 'noise' balloon. It's the nadir, you get the picture. Currently just writing material and recording sections to see how it sounds. I'll post some of them so you can listen to what I'm doing.

From next week I'll be volunteering with Transform (www.tdpf.org.uk) they are a drugs policy foundation, campaigning for a more rational approach to the regulation of drugs. I'll be doing a bunch of things, I'll keep you posted.

I'm also starting another small scale business, installing ubuntu (www.ubuntu.com) on peoples' home computers. No idea how it's going to take off but we'll see. If you don't know anything about ubuntu then you are missing out: it is a really easy to use alternative to Windows, with a sound ethical basis, namely providing free (as in free beer and freedom) software. I currently have 5 computers up and running with it.

Just keeping myself as busy as I can.
