I Have a New Show- Yes
It has been an emotional day, with no less than three appearances on the Forest Fringe stage. First trying out material for my brand new show: The Middle Bit (working title). This went well, but I didn´t strike the right tone and it felt a little hashed and false. There were some good turns from Mamuru Iriguchi, who i have mentioned before in my worst nightmare awards, a choreographer/dancer whose name i shall ammend to this post and The team. These guys were great and made be rather jealous: I would really like to find a group of other performers who i want to work with, i think it would really open up the possibilities for what could happen on stage.
Then I performed 10 Ways to Die on Stage, the audience was pretty small and this really brought home the importance of properly publicising a show. The performance felt slow to get started and it may be time to have a good look at exactly what I want the audience to get from it. However the people who did see the show really liked it, with nice comments to me in person and left with box office staff, so even though i didn't feel that great about the show at least the people watching like it, and that's really what I'm after.
The final show of the day was an extended version of The Middle Bit, this is part two of the self trilogy that started with 10 ways to Die on Stage. Until this performance i felt really bad about this show, I had the awful feeling that i was just doing "Ed Rapley" by numbers, that i had let myself settle for a less engaged practice. Not anymore, this was hard, i felt like crying afterwards, i was elated that the show had worked and miserable because it is such a sad show.
