Making a show - The Mastermind Approach.
Making a show is a bit like that simple board game Mastermind. Where you have a series of chances to guess the right combination of coloured blocks.
You never get it right first time. Sometimes the right thing starts in the wrong place. Often nothing is right to begin with.
Through a series of iterations you come gradually to see the pattern you were aiming for without knowing what it was.
Then you can look back through your choices and they have a kind of logic, you can read a history into them.
It makes sense in retrospect.
Of course it is also possible that you run out of time before you are finished. Then you present what is basically a draft. It might be your 3rd or 4th or 57th draft but still it is not the finished article.
There is merit in displaying an attempt rather than an accomplishment..Otfen you won't have a choice. It can be painful and akward. You haven't finished. You are not ready.
