Tater Tots of Love

The highlight of my Edinburgh Fringe as an audience member was undoubtedly Tater Tots of Love, this is an American high school musical. Trust me I was as shocked as you might be to hear this.

Essentailly the experience shook me to the foundations of my artistic practice: you don't need experimentation and the attendant obscurity, what you need is show tunes, big smiles and the ability to hit the high notes. Even better the whole things was probably the best response to Faust that I've seen.

I have included an audio sample of the finale for your enjoyment.

Thanks to the lovely Chloë Courtney for sending me the link.

Hi, Edward.

Thanks so much for the high praise of Tater Tots of Love. I'm glad you enjoyed it; that it shook your foundations is even better.

Forgive my vanity, but I'd love know more about what it was about the show that struck you, especially since, as you wrote, this isn't the kind of show that typically appeals to you. My contact info is available on the Tater Tots website if you'd like to correspond.

This is a small show without a publisher, so if you know of any venues or schools that you think could stage it, please mention it to them.

Your performances look to be fascinating. If ever I find myself in Bristol, I'll be sure to look you up.

Stefan

so... I was also in the show, and you just made my day completely. Thank you so much. (I was one of the dorks, by the way.)

I attended the first Tater Tots performance at the Fringe, and I thought you guys did a great job with it. I googled the title to look it up because "My name is Anthony David . . . " popped into my head today.

Wow! I am one of the kids who performed Tater Tots at Fringe -- I played the German teacher (Frau Umlaut). It's so exciting to see someone who really enjoyed the show!

It's great that you guys found this little blog piece, my friend and I really enjoyed the show, congratulations on both your performances- the nerds were great and so was Frau Umlaut. There was some good comic timing there.
